Job Title: Mobile Swim Instructor
Job Description:
We are seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Mobile Swim Instructors. As a Mobile Swim Instructor, you will have the unique opportunity to bring the joy of swimming to various locations, working with students of all ages and skill levels. If you are passionate about water safety, enjoy teaching, and are ready for a rewarding summer position, we invite you to apply.
Requirements:
– At least 18 years old
– Valid driver’s license and insurance
– Reliable mode of transportation
– Willingness to drive to multiple locations per day
– Ability to swim 300 yards without stopping
– Dive to the bottom of a 12 ft pool
– Tread water for 2 minutes without using hands
– CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain through Red Cross or Whatley Swim)
– Willingness to undergo state, local, and driving record background check
– Must attend 20 hours of paid in-person training (paid at a training rate of $12.50 per hour)
Responsibilities:
– Learn and teach all four swimming strokes
– Demonstrate flip turns and other advanced competition techniques
– Get hair and face wet daily; wear a professional one-piece swimsuit
– Conduct 30-minute private lessons for students ages 2+ (24 months-adult)
– Attend required in-season training (3 hours)
– Weekly lesson observations by a supervisor
– Attend paid weekly Friday debriefs (9-12, 12-3, or 3-6, paid at a training rate of $12.50/hour)
Qualifications:
– Teaching experience is a plus
– Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus
– Swimming experience is a plus
– Swim instructing experience is a plus
– Experience with special education or divergent learners is a plus
Training Opportunities:
– Swim Instructor Training: May 4th-5th, May 18th-19th, June 1st-2nd (1-6pm, 10-hour credit each)
– Red Cross Lifeguarding Training through Whatley Swim: April 13th-14th, April 20th-21st, April 27th-28th (all day both days)
Pay and Incentives:
– Pay: $23-$26 per hour (depending on skills and experience)
– Incentives available
– Annual raises for returning instructors
Season and Schedule:
– Season: May 1 – September 30
– Flexible scheduling, negotiable
– Busiest hours: 9-11am and 4-8pm
– Instructors must be available for a minimum of 16 hours per week and 10 weeks during the summer
– 40-hour per week schedules available
